EarthFest is a community-wide event that is free and open to the public and that seeks to not only celebrate our home planet, but to explore it and learn about ways to protect it.

This event will feature interactive children's activities, live music, educational activities for all ages, "Ask-a-Scientist" panel discussions, "On-the-Hour Talks" about the environment featuring a NASA Astronaut at 3 p.m., informative planet Earth displays, exhibitors showcasing "earth-friendly" products and information, poetry readings, children's story time, and much, much more.

When: April 26, 2008 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Why: To disseminate knowledge, promote environmental awareness, and celebrate Earth Day. The EarthFest celebration will serve to inspire the community to participate in protecting the planet and educate them on how to do so.

How to get involved: As an educator, there are many different ways to get involved:

  • Help facilitate a science activity as an educator or as a class (contact Dr. Randy Caton at rcaton@cnu.edu)
  • Advertise and encourage your students to attend
  • Organize an extra credit activity around the event
  • Participate in the earth Art contest (contact Katrina Young at katrina.l.young@nasa.gov
